I don’t often get to photograph weddings at rustic venues, so I was really looking forward to photographing Aleta and Drew’s Fall wedding at Hillside Manor in Norman. It was my first time photographing there, and it did not disappoint! Beautiful location all round. I loved the couple’s elegant color choices of gray, lavender, and dusty rose (or “duty rose”…Aleta will get the reference. LOL).
It was a gorgeous late September day for this sweet couple’s outdoor ceremony. I’m a sucker for emotional walks down the aisle, and Aleta’s dad’s emotional reaction walking her down the aisle was totally precious. His wolf-dog – who was kenneled near the ceremony area – howled through a good part of the couple’s vows and ring exchange. I’m pretty sure that a wolf howling during your vows has to be good luck.
Their reception was full of rustic charm, and Aleta’s DIY touches added to that. I loved that they opted for cake pops instead of a traditional wedding cake. It fit perfectly with their wedding’s informal laid back style. Before the dance party got underway, the couple took a moment to recognize and honor Aleta’s maternal grandparents who were about to celebrate their 58th wedding anniversary as well as her grandfather’s 81st birthday. And then they all rocked the night away, and the guests sent the couple off with a sparkler exit.
Check out some of my favorite photos from their wedding day!
